Against Root Riders and Throwers, layered walls and split compartments make troops change targets instead of moving together through one clean path. Large dead zones can divert Root Riders away from Healers and heroes, giving Scattershots, Infernos and Monolith more time to damage each group separately.
Rage and Poison Spell Towers combination make core defenses harder to get through. Rage can boost Firespitters, Infernos and nearby defenses as main army arrives, while Poison slows grouped troops and heroes. This forces attackers to use spells earlier and end most attacks at 1-2 stars.
Air attacks need different setup. Spaced defenses reduce Electro Dragon chain value and limit how many important targets Warden Fireball can remove at once. Air Sweepers, Firespitters and air traps can also disrupt Hydra and Electro Dragon pathing before they reach remaining defenses.
